FINANCE COUNCIL It assists and guides the pastor in his administrative responsibilities. It reviews and approves the annual parish budget and advises the pastor in areas of maintenance and repair if the facility. members are appointed by the pastor. They meet at least four times a year.


LITURGY COMMITTEE It plans and organizes the liturgical celebration of our parish, provides participation in the liturgy and coordinates the activities of the Choirs, Alter servers, Lectors, Ushers, and Eucharistic Ministers.


PARISH COUNCIL It assists and advises the pastor in the areas of pastoral activities. it is advisory in nature, not a decision making board, and its members are nominated by the parish and appointed by the pastor. Their period of service is five years. meetings are convened at the discretion of the pastor.


PRECIOUS BLOOD MINISTRIES
 

ADORATON:is every Thursday from 9 am-9pm. Adoration is a sign of devotion to and worship of Jesus Christ, who is present Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity, under the appearance of the consecrated host. As a devotion, Eucharistic adorations and meditation are more than merely looking at the Blessed Host, but are a continuation of what was celebrated in the Mass. ALTAR SERVERS: They assist the priest in the celebration of the Mass. This ministry is open to all boys and girls in the fifth grade and up. New altar server traiing takes place in May.

ALTAR SOCIETY consist of a group of women (and a male or two when they can need us) who care for the altar and sanctuary. through their activities, they provide linens, altar candles, bread, wine, flowers, missals, and coordinating cleaning and decoration of the Church. They always welcome new members. Meetings are on the first Friday of each month, except during the summer months.  Contact Julie Canavan at 727-1022.

BIBLE STUDIES AND SCRIPTURE SHARING- the Parish offers several different bible studies throughout the year and various prayer groups.Contact the office at 825-8945 or Joanna Madorma at 829-2235.

CURSILLO- is a 3 day weekend retreat centered around the Eucharist and focused on the question of what it means to live an authentic Christian life, and how to accomplish this. Contact Darren Caprarese 540-547-3695.

EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS:Assist in distributing Holy Communion at the weekend Masses and bringing Communion to the homebound as requested. They are selected by the pastor and upon attending a training session, appointed by the Bishop, for a period of service of five years.

HEAT SHELTER: Precious Blood helps to sponsor a week with the Culpeper Heat Shelter. This is an ecumenical minsitry to assist the homeless population from Thanksgiving to the end of March. The shelter is located at St. Luke's Church. Contact the office if you are interested in helping in any way.

HOLY SPIRIT INTERACTIVE (HSI)- was founded by Aneel Aranha and is dedicated to strengthening the faith of Christians and spreading the Word of God around the world through its various ministries. The contact is Steve Hemler at 825-4705.

HOMEBOUND MINISTRY: If you or someone you know would like to receive communion on a weekly basis or be visited by a priest, please contact the office.

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS is a national organization. Our local John Cempre' Council complements many of our parish goals. It pursues charitable and community endeavors, particularly for the mentally challenged. All male parishioners over the age of 18 are eligible for membership. Meetings are held the first and third Mondays of each month. Our current Grand Knight is Stephen Johnston at 540-829-8125.


LADIES AUXILIARY OF THE KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS is an organization of wives, widows, sisters, daughters, granddaughters, mothers, and grandmothers, 18 years and older of Knights in good standing, who assist and work with the Knights of Columbus Council. The current President is Sylvia Garcia at 540-987-3121.

LECTORS: They have the functions of proclaiming the scripture during Mass on Sundays and Holy Days. They have occasional training sessions. The ministry lectors is open to all men and women of high school age and older.

LITERACY CLASSES FOR ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE (ESL) Classes are every Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9:30-11:00 am. Please call the office if you are interested in helping with the ministry or are in need. The leaders can also help with the citizenship process.

MUSIC-the parish has several choirs. The Heritage Choir directed by John Flemming at 825-8255. They practice on Tuesday evenings. The Precious Blood Choir directed by Theresa Watson at 829-0197. They practice on Wednesday evenings. Both choirs serve twice a month at alternating Sunday Masses as well as special liturgies throughout the year. The Children's Choir directed by Gina Rossetti at 540-937-2320. All children in grades 2-7 are invited to join. One Voice which is an acoustic group with Middle School and High School students. They practice the first and third Saturdays of the month and serve on the third Saturday of the month. Contact Hannah Masson at 825-9650. Instrumentalists are always welcome to share their talents with our ministry and parish to add variety and color to our assembly. All are welcome to join. We welcome your talents and gifts.We also have two Spanish Choirs,

PRISON MINISTRY- this is a special group of men who regularly go to Coffewood Correctional Center and minister to the men there. Mass is celebrated. For more information contact Jim Byrne at 547-2932.

PRO-LIFE is a respect for life group performing the following ministries: March for Life, Education on Pro-life issues, Holy hours for life, Gabriel project, life chain, Poster and oratory contest for youth, Pro-life evening & baby shower and/or fund raising for pro-life pregnancy centers.


YOUTH GROUP- Our parish youth group is open to all parishioners ages 14-18 years. Activities include field trips, service projects, Teen Chorus, March for Life participation, the Diocesan Youth Rally and so much more. For more information contact the office at 825-8945.

SAINT PETER JULIAN PRAYER CHAIN is a group who pray for requests communicated through phone, mail, and email.  The members pray for these intentions in various prayer styles at home and at the church. Members dedicate at least one hour per week for the intentions of the prayer list. For more information contact Joanna  at  829-2235.


SPANISH CHARISMATIC PRAYER GROUP- This group meets on Saturday evenings at 7 PM followed by some fellowship time in the parish hall.


ST. JOHN PAUL II LIBRARY: Our parish library has a variety of books on theology, prayer and spirituality, lives fo the saints, papal documents and reference materials, children's books, and more available to be checked out for free. The library is located in the Old Rectory (building on the corner of E. Edmondson and Main St.)

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION (CCD)-Steve Hemler is the Director of Faith Formation. The religious education program provides catechises for children in the public schools for grades K-12. All students must be registered. CCD classes are 9:45-11 am during the school year.

RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION (RCIA)- This program is for individuals who are unbaptized, baptized in another Christian church or are Catholic but have never completed your initiation and are in need of further sacraments. The class is designed to support, encourage, renew and strengthen the Christian belief. Julie Dawley is the director or RCIA. Each year the parish community welcomes new members and those interested in learning more about the Catholic Church in a year-long process of initiation, beginning in September and continuing through the celebration of Pentecost.

RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION FOR CHILDREN (RCIC) is a program for childrend 7 and older who have not been baptized and would like to become full members of the Catholic Church. This is a two year program culiminating in all three Rites of Initiation: Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation at the Easter Vigil Mass


USHERS: They exercise the important ministry of hospitality. They help to greet people before Mass, assist with information when asked, arrange for the presentation of the gifts and distribute the bulletins. They serve in any way to help our liturgy to run smoothly. This ministry is open to all men and women in 8th grade and older.

 ALUMINUM COLLECTION: Is the third Sunday fo the month. Aluminum only. No steel. Sponsored by the Knights of Columbus.


CHRISTIAN ARE NETWORKING (CAN)-This is a job ministry to help you with resume review, fine tuning your interview skills, career coaching and much more.  Contact Margie at 540-422-0907 or culpepercan@gmail.com. CAN meets every Thursdays at 7 PM- 8:30 PM in classroom 6/8 in the Parish Hall Facility.

Lighthouse Project USA is also a ministry run by Margie.


CULPEPER LITERACY PROGRAM- Contact Frank Walusek at 341-3467 The council provides instrucion in: Adult Basic Education, GED preparation and ESOL. this free of charge service (after a $25 regisration fee) is offered to adults, 18 years or older. Volunteer tutors offer 1:1 help, group or class sessions. Sessions meet at the convenience of the tutor and student, 7 days a week. Sessions may be morning, afternoon or evening. The Literacy Council is located at 415 S Main St, 2nd floor, rear of the building. Office hours are 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Telephone # 540-825-5804. From July 1, 2012-June 30, 2013 the Culpeper Literacy Countil has served 205 students, 52 GED Learners 129 ESOL Learns, 24 Adutl Basic Education Learners, 8 GED graduates, 1 Adult Learner obtained US Citizenship, 26 Employability workshop participants, 35 Active tutors and 2,985 hours of volunteer instructional time.visit www.culpeperliteracy.org.
